OUR PROJECTS
At Siloam 256, our projects are designed to empower and uplift the deaf community in Uganda. From providing hands-on vocational training to organizing enriching trips and treats, and conducting impactful home visits, we are committed to nurturing skills, fostering connections, and supporting holistic development.
VOCATIONAL TRAINING
At Siloam, we provide hands-on training in various vocational skills tailored to empower deaf individuals. Our programs include shoemaking, tailoring, and bag crafting, taught by passionate instructors in an inclusive environment. Through our training, we aim to equip our apprentices with skills for self-reliance and economic independence.
TRIPS AND TREATS
We believe in creating memorable experiences beyond the classroom. Our trips and treats allow apprentices to explore new places, bond with peers, and enjoy well-deserved breaks. These outings foster camaraderie and a sense of adventure while broadening their horizons.
HOME VISITS
At the end of every term, we conduct home visits to connect with our apprentices' families, understand their living environments, and offer personalized support. During these visits, we also take termly reports which track progress and ensure that our programs continue to meet the needs of each individual. These visits help strengthen the relationship between Siloam 256 and the families, creating a holistic support system for our apprentices.
OUR MISSION
Our mission is to empower and support young people who are deaf and hard of hearing in Uganda through vocational training. We aim to create a more inclusive society, breaking down barriers and promoting independence, confidence and active participation. Our core values are inclusivity, compassion and respect.
COMMUNITY OUTREACH
At Siloam, we raise awareness about our work in Uganda by helping the deaf community build skills and create opportunities. Through training in shoe-making, tailoring, and other crafts, we empower deaf individuals and those who are hard of hearing to succeed despite challenges.
We also take part in events like Tubayo Market Day, where we sell items made by the deaf, showcasing their talent and hard work. Events like our recent Sign Language Day help connect apprentices with their families and communities by improving communication and understanding, creating stronger support for inclusion and equal opportunities.
By sharing the stories and achievements of our apprentices through events, campaigns, and partnerships, we show the world the potential of people who are often overlooked. Together, we’re changing lives in Uganda and inspiring others globally.
